A growing, cross-sector initiative to advance inclusive, evidence-based policy reform for mid-to-senior professionals with disabilities and chronic health conditions across Canada.
The Coalition is a coordinated network of researchers, policy contributors, disability advocates, employers, legal professionals, and community organizations working together to identify gaps in Canadian legislation and policy — and to push for concrete, systemic changes.
It is designed to go beyond single-issue advocacy by taking a holistic, intersectional approach that reflects the full complexity of career barriers: legislative, workplace, financial, and attitudinal.
Addressing the full complexity of career barriers
Professionals with disabilities or chronic health conditions who want to contribute to policy change
Researchers, academics, and policy analysts focused on disability, employment equity, or human rights
Lawyers and legal professionals in employment, disability, or human rights law
Employers and HR professionals committed to systemic inclusion
Nonprofit organizations and community groups working in adjacent spaces
Anyone who believes that mid-to-senior professionals with disabilities deserve a seat at the policy table
Coalition members contribute to meaningful, coordinated reform across six key areas:
Reviewing and analyzing federal and provincial legislation for gaps and barriers
Developing policy recommendations and position statements
Supporting research initiatives on career barriers
Participating in working groups and cross-sector consultation
Contributing to Breaking925’s advocacy efforts with Ottawa-based decision-makers
Building a national network of voices pushing for change
We recognize that career barriers are not caused by disability alone. They are shaped by ageism, systemic ableism, gaps in legislation, employer attitudes, inadequate accommodations, and the intersection of multiple identities. The Coalition’s work addresses all of these dimensions.
“Because piecemeal solutions produce piecemeal results.”
The National Policy Reform Coalition is currently in development. We are confirming our inaugural contributors, establishing our working structure, and preparing our first policy focus areas.
This is an ideal time to get involved — Coalition members joining now will help shape the direction, culture, and priorities of this national initiative.
All Coalition roles are volunteer-based and designed to be flexible, accessible, and trauma-informed.
Whether you have five hours a month or fifty, there is a meaningful role for you.
