Initiatives

§ 01

Foundational Growth

Incorporation of Breaking925 (Briser925 in French) occurred April 1, 2025. Since then, we have been busy establishing our foundational footing within a changing social, political, and economic climate. We’ve built a strong and growing team of experts coming from various fields, offering allyship and lived experiences; a feat made more impressive by the fact that we are all 100% unpaid volunteers at this time.

§ 02

2026 Priorities

As we enter 2026, our priorities are to increase our visibility through our website, social media, and event participation; secure seed funding; and recruit for remaining key vacancies. We are building our reputation by fostering new connections and offering opportunities for collaboration. We seek partnerships with an attitude of respect, inclusion, and continuous learning. Specifically, we are looking for partners interested in the accessible delivery of training products, though we have many other initiatives in development.

§ 03

National Policy Reform

Our National Policy Reform activities will be based on shared experiences and research evidence. We are investigating whether to establish our own Coalition and/or join existing ones. We want to learn, not duplicate efforts, to promote disability justice in a collective voice that respects individual differences. We want to connect with other organizations! We also invite individuals with policy or research expertise to support our policy influencing efforts and expand the capacity of our outstanding Research and Policy Team.

§ 04  —  A New Initiative

“Leg Up!”

§ 04.1

“Leg Up!” Fundraising Initiative

We have launched “Leg Up!” as our first fundraising initiative. Our goal is to produce a book offering meaningful and entertaining insights into the career successes of individuals across a wide range of occupations and sectors. Participants will not be selected based on disability status, as “having a disability is not a requirement”. This inclusive approach encourages broad participation, engages allies, and ensures the book is not viewed solely through the lens and expectation of disclosure. Instead, interviewees will be selected to reflect a balanced variety of occupations, lessons learned, personalities, genders, cultures, and regional perspectives.

§ 04.2

Privacy & Participation

All “Leg Up!” participants will have the opportunity to review their stories before they are finalized. If a person with a disability chooses to disclose, or if an interviewee shares information they wish to keep confidential, they may request before publication that those details be withheld or moved to the “Anonymous” section.

§ 04.3

Our Intent

The intention of “Leg Up!” is two-fold: to generate seed funding for our mission and to provide valuable career insights for mid- to senior- level professionals, and executives. Research has shown there is a need for professional role models at these levels, and this book will offer a tangible, relatable source of mentorship, that can be referred to, repeatedly.
